Actonel

You should take Actonel exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual dosage is one tablet once a week, preferably on the same day each week. It's essential to take Actonel on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water to ensure proper absorption. Remember not to lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet. If you forget to take a dose, take it the next morning. Do not take two tablets on the same day. If you experience difficulty swallowing, chest pain, or heartburn, contact your doctor. Actonel's effects last for a week, so missing a dose can affect your treatment.

Each Actonel tablet contains 35 mg of risedronate sodium as the active ingredient. The tablet also includes microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, and ferric oxide (yellow) as excipients.

Common side effects of Actonel may include stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, or mild joint or muscle pain. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include difficulty swallowing, chest pain, jaw pain, or signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

Do not take Actonel if you have low blood calcium levels, severe kidney problems, or if you are unable to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use Actonel. Inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of esophagus problems, ulcers, or difficulty swallowing. If you are taking other medications, especially calcium supplements or antacids, consult your doctor before starting Actonel to prevent interactions.
