Betamethasone

For skin conditions, apply a thin layer of betamethasone cream or ointment to the affected area once or twice a day, as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage unless instructed to do so. Avoid using betamethasone on broken or infected skin. It is important not to exceed the prescribed dosage or frequency of application. If you experience no improvement after a few weeks of use, consult your doctor for further guidance.

Each gram of betamethasone cream contains 0.1% betamethasone (as valerate) as the active ingredient. The cream also contains excipients such as cetostearyl alcohol, chlorocresol, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, and purified water.

Common side effects of betamethasone may include skin irritation, dryness, or burning sensation at the application site. Serious side effects such as allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling) or skin thinning may occur but are rare. If you experience severe skin reactions or notice signs of an allergic response, seek medical help immediately.

Do not use betamethasone if you are allergic to any of its components. Avoid applying this medication to areas of the skin affected by viral infections (e.g., cold sores, chickenpox). Betamethasone should not be used on the face for prolonged periods. If you have a skin infection, inform your healthcare provider before using betamethasone.
