Daktacort is a topical cream that contains two active ingredients, hydrocortisone and miconazole. Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that reduces redness, itching, and inflammation of the skin. Miconazole is an antifungal agent that fights fungal infections. This combination is effective in treating a range of skin conditions caused by fungi and bacteria, such as athlete's foot, fungal nappy rash, and sweat rash. Daktacort is suitable for adults and children over 10 years old.
About Daktacort
Dosage and usage
Apply a small amount of Daktacort cream to the affected area twice daily, in the morning and evening. Gently rub the cream into the skin until it is absorbed. Do not cover the treated area with bandages or dressings unless directed by your doctor. It is important to wash your hands before and after applying the cream. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. If your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, consult your healthcare provider.
What Daktacort contains
Each gram of Daktacort cream contains 10 mg of hydrocortisone and 20 mg of miconazole. The cream also contains benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, and purified water as excipients.
Side effects
Common side effects of Daktacort may include skin irritation, itching, or a burning sensation at the application site. Serious side effects like allergic reactions are rare but may present as severe redness, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any severe side effects, seek medical assistance immediately.
Precautions
Do not use Daktacort if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes. Consult your doctor before using Daktacort if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have a skin infection that is not fungal, Daktacort may not be suitable for you. If you are unsure whether Daktacort is appropriate for your condition, talk to your healthcare provider.
