Diamicron

About Diamicron

Diamicron is a medication that contains the active ingredient gliclazide, which belongs to a group of medicines called sulfonylureas. It helps lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Diamicron is suitable for individuals whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. It works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin, which helps reduce high blood sugar levels and the associated complications.

Dosage and usage

You should take Diamicron exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual starting dose is 80 mg taken once daily with breakfast. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your blood sugar levels. The maximum daily dose is 320 mg, which may be divided into two doses. It is important to take Diamicron at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you experience symptoms of low blood sugar, such as sweating, trembling, or confusion, have a snack or drink containing sugar to raise your blood sugar levels.
