Diamox (acetazolamide)

Description

Diamox contains the active ingredient acetazolamide, which belongs to a class of medications called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It works by reducing the production of fluid in the eye, decreasing intraocular pressure. This medication is suitable for individuals with conditions such as glaucoma to help manage high eye pressure.

For the treatment of glaucoma, the typical adult dosage of Diamox is 250 mg to 1000 mg per day, divided into two to four doses. Your doctor will determine the right dose for you. It's important not to exceed the prescribed dosage. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. The effects of Diamox can last for several hours. If you experience prolonged side effects or symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
