Famotidine

For adults, the typical dosage of Famotidine for heartburn and acid indigestion is 10mg to 20mg taken orally, once or twice a day. If you are using it to prevent ulcers, the usual dose is 20mg taken at bedtime. You should not exceed a total daily dose of 80mg. Famotidine can take up to an hour to start working. If you experience any unusual symptoms or if your condition does not improve, contact your healthcare provider. 

Famotidine tablets typically contain 20mg of famotidine as the active ingredient. Other ingredients may include microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, and starch. 

Common side effects of Famotidine may include headache, dizziness, constipation, or diarrhoea. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include difficulty breathing, chest pain, or swelling of the face or throat. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical help right away. 

Do not use Famotidine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. It is important to inform your healthcare provider of any medical conditions you have, especially if you have kidney problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Famotidine. If you are taking other medications, particularly nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or blood thinners, talk to your healthcare provider before starting Famotidine.
