Flixonase is a nasal spray that contains fluticasone propionate as its active ingredient. It works by reducing inflammation in your nasal passages, helping to relieve symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny nose caused by allergies like hay fever or perennial allergic rhinitis. Flixonase is suitable for adults and children over 4 years old who suffer from these allergy symptoms.
About Flixonase
Dosage and usage
For adults and children over 12 years old, the usual dose is two sprays into each nostril once daily. For children aged 4-11 years, the recommended dose is one spray into each nostril once daily. It's important not to exceed the recommended dose. If you forget a dose, just take it when you remember unless it's nearly time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose. The effects of Flixonase can last up to 24 hours. If you experience nosebleeds, nasal ulceration, or your symptoms do not improve after using Flixonase for a few days, consult your doctor.
What Flixonase contains
Each spray of Flixonase contains 50 micrograms of fluticasone propionate. It also includes microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, dextrose, polysorbate 80, purified water, and benzalkonium chloride.
Side effects
Common side effects of Flixonase may include a bad taste or smell, nosebleeds, headache, or nasal dryness. Serious side effects like severe allergic reactions or changes in vision are rare but require immediate medical attention. If you experience any side effects, especially if they persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.
Precautions
Do not use Flixonase if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any other ingredients in the spray. Avoid using it if you have recently had nasal surgery or injury. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have tuberculosis, fungal, or viral infections in your respiratory tract, consult your doctor before using Flixonase. Inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking, especially if you are using corticosteroids or HIV protease inhibitors.
