Levothyroxine

The dosage of Levothyroxine is determined based on your individual thyroid hormone levels and response to treatment. Typically, the starting dose is low and gradually increased as needed. It is usually taken once a day on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast. The effects of Levothyroxine may take several weeks to be noticeable. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage, and do not stop taking the medication suddenly without consulting your healthcare provider. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. 

Each Levothyroxine tablet contains a specific dosage of levothyroxine sodium as the active ingredient. In addition to levothyroxine sodium, the tablets may also contain excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, calcium phosphate, and magnesium stearate. These components help to stabilize and form the tablet for effective delivery of the medication. 

Common side effects of Levothyroxine may include temporary hair loss, weight changes, and mild tremors. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, and signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling. If you experience any severe side effects or an allergic reaction, seek medical help promptly.

Levothyroxine is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions such as untreated thyrotoxicosis or adrenal insufficiency. It should not be used by individuals who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also seek medical advice before using this medication.
