Dosage and usage
For asthma, the usual dose of Montelukast for adults and children aged 15 and over is 10 mg once a day in the evening. For children aged 6 to 14 years old, the dose is 5 mg once a day. If you have allergic rhinitis, the recommended dose for adults and children over 15 years old is also 10 mg once daily. The effects of Montelukast can last up to 24 hours. Each Montelukast tablet contains 10 mg of montelukast (as montelukast sodium). The excipients in Montelukast include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, and others.

Common side effects of Montelukast may include headache, stomach pain, and fatigue. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include behavior/mood changes, signs of infection, and allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
Precautions
Do not take Montelukast if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. If you have phenylketonuria, inform your doctor as Montelukast chewable tablets contain aspartame. Montelukast may not be suitable for individuals with certain liver conditions or those taking certain medications, so consult your healthcare provider before using this medication.
