Motens

You should take Motens exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual starting dose is one 200 microgram tablet twice a day, in the morning and evening. Your doctor may adjust this dose based on your blood pressure response. The maximum recommended daily dose is 800 micrograms. It may take a few weeks for Motens to show its full effects. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it's almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Each Motens tablet contains 200 micrograms of the active ingredient moxonidine (as the hydrochloride). The other ingredients are lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E171), and iron oxide yellow (E172).

Common side effects of Motens may include dry mouth, dizziness, tiredness, and headache. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include chest pain, rapid heartbeat, swelling of the face or throat, or signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing.

Do not take Motens if you are allergic to moxonidine or any other ingredients in the tablets. Inform your doctor if you have severe liver disease, heart rhythm problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Motens may not be suitable for you if you are under 18 years old. If you have any concerns about taking Motens, especially if you have heart conditions or are on other medications, speak to your healthcare provider before starting this treatment.
