Ovranette is a combined oral contraceptive pill containing two hormones: ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. It works by preventing ovulation, thickening the cervical mucus to stop sperm reaching the egg, and thinning the lining of the uterus to make it difficult for a fertilized egg to implant. Ovranette is suitable for women looking for reliable contraception that is over 99% effective when taken correctly.

Dosage and usage
You should take one Ovranette pill at the same time every day for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break where you don't take any pills. Start the next pack after the break, even if your period hasn't finished. If you forget a pill, take it as soon as you remember, even if this means taking two pills in one day. If you vomit within 2 hours of taking a pill, it may not be fully absorbed, so take another pill. Ovranette does not protect you from sexually transmitted infections. If you experience severe abdominal pain, chest pain, or shortness of breath, seek medical help immediately.
What Ovranette contains
Each Ovranette pill contains 150 micrograms of levonorgestrel and 30 micrograms of ethinylestradiol. The other ingredients are lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, sucrose, macrogol 6000, calcium carbonate, talc, montan glycol wax, titanium dioxide (E171), glycerol, ferric oxide pigment, and red ferric oxide pigment.
Side effects
Common side effects of Ovranette include nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, and changes in mood or libido. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include chest pain, swelling in the legs, difficulty breathing, and severe allergic reactions like rash, itching, or swelling.
Precautions
Do not take Ovranette if you have a history of blood clots, certain cancers, liver disease, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. It is not suitable for women over 35 who smoke or are obese. If you have a family history of blood clots or breast cancer, speak to your healthcare provider before starting Ovranette. If you are on medication for epilepsy, tuberculosis, or HIV, Ovranette may interact with these drugs, so consult your doctor before use.
