Ozempic is a medication designed to help reduce blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is intended to complement a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular physical activity. Ozempic is recommended for individuals whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by other treatments, such as metformin. Additionally, it may help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in those with type 2 diabetes and pre-existing heart conditions. However, results can vary between individuals, and not everyone will respond to the medication in the same way. Ozempic is not insulin and is not intended for the treatment of type 1 diabetes or for use in children. It is administered via a subcutaneous injection, typically once a week.

Dosage and usage

Ozempic should be used once a week, on the same day each week. Inject it under the skin of your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, with or without food. Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the correct dosage. To minimise skin irritation, rotate the injection site each week. Always use a new needle for each injection. If you accidentally inject more than the prescribed amount, contact your doctor immediately. If you miss a dose, administer it as soon as possible if it is within 5 days. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
