Dosage and usage
For adults and adolescents over 12 years old, the usual dose is 2 puffs taken twice a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Serevent should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after using Serevent, seek medical advice promptly.
What Serevent contains
Each puff of Serevent contains 25 micrograms of salmeterol (as salmeterol xinafoate) as the active ingredient. The inhaler also contains norflurane (HFA 134a) as a propellant.
Side effects
Common side effects of Serevent may include headache, tremor, or throat irritation. Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention may include chest pain, increased heart rate, or paradoxical bronchospasm (worsening of breathing). If you experience any of these, seek medical help right away.
Precautions
Do not use Serevent if you are allergic to salmeterol or any other ingredients in the inhaler. It is not recommended for children under 12.
