Thorens is a medication containing vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). It is used to prevent or treat vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is essential for maintaining strong bones and teeth as it facilitates the absorption of calcium in the body. Thorens may be prescribed for individuals at a higher risk of vitamin D deficiency, such as older adults, people with darker skin, those who spend limited time outdoors, or individuals taking specific medications. It can also be used in conditions where the body’s ability to absorb vitamin D from food is impaired. The effectiveness of Thorens can vary depending on the underlying cause of the deficiency and individual circumstances.

Dosage and usage

Take Thorens exactly as prescribed by your doctor, typically once a week or once a month, depending on the dosage. The drops can be taken on a spoon or mixed with a small amount of cold or lukewarm food or drink. Do not mix with hot food or drinks. Swallow the solution immediately without chewing. Do not take Thorens more frequently or for a longer period than prescribed. If you accidentally take too much Thorens, contact your doctor immediately, as excessive vitamin D can be harmful. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not discontinue Thorens without consulting your doctor.
