Each Topamax tablet contains topiramate as the active ingredient. Other components include microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

Common side effects of Topamax may include dizziness, drowsiness, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include vision changes, mood changes, signs of kidney stones (such as severe back/side pain), and metabolic acidosis symptoms (such as rapid breathing or confusion).

Do not take Topamax if you are allergic to topiramate or any of the ingredients in the product. Inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, especially kidney problems, metabolic acidosis, or a history of mental/mood problems.
