Vesicare

You should take Vesicare exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, which can be increased to 10 mg once daily if needed. Swallow the tablet whole with water, and do not crush, chew, or break it. Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Vesicare. Remember to follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the duration of treatment. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Each Vesicare tablet contains 5 mg or 10 mg of solifenacin succinate as the active ingredient. The tablet also includes other components such as lactose monohydrate, maize starch, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, macrogol, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, iron oxide yellow (E172) (only in the 10 mg tablet), and iron oxide red (E172) (only in the 5 mg tablet).  

Common side effects of Vesicare may include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, and dry eyes. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include difficulty urinating, severe stomach or abdominal pain, signs of a urinary tract infection (e.g., burning with urination, frequent urination), and allergic reactions such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.  

Before taking Vesicare, inform your healthcare provider about any allergies you have and provide a detailed medical history, especially of stomach/intestinal problems, glaucoma, liver disease, kidney disease, and urinary retention. It is important to mention if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as well as if you are breastfeeding. Avoid Vesicare if you are allergic to any of its components or if you have certain medical conditions like severe kidney disease, gastric retention, or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma. Be cautious if you have a history of QT prolongation or are taking medications that can cause QT prolongation. Discuss with your healthcare provider if Vesicare is safe for you based on your current health status and medication regimen.
